How To Buy Survival Silver Coins

Buying survival silver coins is gaining popularity on gold and silver forums. While there is nothing official about “survival silver coins”, it’s a good idea to keep a supply of them around in case the banking system is closed, a natural disaster hits your areas, or political instability happens. It’s like having an emergency supply of water, food, clothing, etc. on hand. So what is “survival silver”? It’s nothing more than junk silver coins minted before 1965. These coins contain 90% silver.
Most people who buy silver bullion coins do so for three main reasons–as an investment vehicle, a hedge against inflation, or for survival purposes. These three reasons point to the security of silver being used as real money as opposed to the US dollar which is a fiat currency with no real intrinsic value. Most people at the end of the day want to know that their money is still intact and is not going to disappear. The disappearing act but I’m talking about is the invisible tax of inflation that has caused by greedy governments printing more of their fiat currencies with no precious metals to back it up.
The people who purchase gold and silver coins for survival purposes are expecting the worst case scenarios that have happened throughout the centuries. I am not one given to conspiracy theories. I read the news online regularly and can clearly see that the Federal Reserve has not stopped printing the US currency at an unprecedented rate. In the last three years alone the beloved Ben Bernanke, president of the Federal Reserve has tripled the supply of the United States dollar by threefold. Given the fact that he had currencies have a life expectancy averaging 27 years tells me that the US dollar is in deep trouble. In 1971, “Tricky Dick” Richard Nixon took us off the gold standard in the US citizens were screwed financially.
In 2002, both Argentina and Paraguay closed their banks to their citizens. The few people that had the foresight to save part of their money in hard assets like gold and silver fared very well. Eventually, the banks reopened in the depositors were limited in the amounts of money that they could withdraw. Simultaneously the Argentinian peso and the Paraguayan guarani plummeted in value. Brazil followed suit shortly after this and be faulted on its huge international debt and they are currency also tanked.
The free market has a leveling effect on fiat currencies. No matter how hard the government tries to tinker with their currency, the free market will eventually prevail by crumbling the fiat currencies and often the governments fail right along with their phony money. Unfortunately, totalitarian and dictatorships often take over the government.
I am not an expert on any of these matters. I can only read the tea leaves of history and make my own decisions that are best for myself and my family. People like myself convert most of her assets into something tangible. It doesn’t have to be silver or gold. An automobile, garden tools, fuel, land, and livestock are just a few of the tangible assets that will be in high demand if a financial collapse were to happen. Having part of your assets in junk survival silver will make the acquisition of desirable goods and services easier to obtain.
Where To Get The Best Deals On Survival Junk Silver Coins
Local Coins Shops & Jewelry Stores
Honestly, I would go to your local coin dealer first. While I have links here on my site for buying junk silver coins, I believe that you should get to know your local coin dealer and build a relationship with him or her. Knowledge is power. I buy my silver bullion coins both online and from a local jeweler and coin dealer. While I am not well known to either of them, they know me because I often bring in both of my boys to look for rare coins. It’s a family event. But do not overlook online dealers either. I like to spread out my silver buying from various sources. Online silver dealers offer fantastic deals on junk silver coins at nearly spot price.
